Edge is reporting that the NPD group reports (that's a lot of reporting) that the 360 has so far outshined the PS3 in 2009. Sales of Microsoft's console have totaled 240,600 units to 164,700 PS3's shipped so far this year.
The Wii is still ahead of everybody in the sales department at 361,700. It should be noted though that that is down from last year -- which is something that I hope wakes Nintendo up a little. The DS is such a great platform and gets (deservedly so) a lot of attention from the big N, but there needs to be a larger influx of quality games on the Wii. They're just waaaay to few and far between for my liking.
But that's neither here nor there, congrats to the Xbox for keeping the sales train a chuggin'.
EDIT: It should also be said that the NPD says that [prototype] was the sales king for software in June. If you haven't checked the game out yet, I really recommend doing so -- there was a decent deal of negative press about it at release but it's a really solid title with a great story, excellent controls, and some nice graphics too. Personally, I think it's head and shoulders above another free-roaming superhero actioner that may have been released around the same time... *cough*cough*inFamous*cough*cough*
